Tri-City Pride Sports Boosters Oct. 7 meeting
minutes
President Dana Hunt called the Oct. 7 meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Minutes of the Sept. 16 meeting were approved.
Treasurer Carla Haukap reported that the outstanding commitments are the senior athlete
pictures, the bricks for the baseball/softball fields and the fence covers for the softball field.
Mr. Schleicher reported that all the information had been sent to the sign company and the new
conference banners should be done soon. A discussion was held about where the banners would
be hung and what needed to be removed from the Sports Center.
The Fall Sports Awards Program will be Nov. 1 starting at 2 p.m. All coaches have been notified of
this event, and it is also on the school Web site and has been in the Tri-City Register.
The Sports Boosters will be hosting a dinner Dec. 5 during a day of both girls and boys high
school basketball games. A decision about what we are going to serve will be decided at the next
meeting.
Carla Haukap checked into a nacho cheese machine and found you could purchase single-serve
nachos at Sam’s, so we will try that for the spring sports season.
The boys junior high and high school basketball coaches, Steve Dilley and Phil Fishburn, attended
the meeting and presented their wish lists; 15 pairs of dribble goggles, hand towels and a digital
camcorder were voted on to purchase for the teams. We also received a wish list from the high
school cheerleading coach, and it was approved to purchase a sports bag for each cheerleader, a
Mae flyer and two stunt straps.
Sports boosters will again be selling 50/50 tickets at the basketball games. In addition, we will
sell tickets for a participant to attempt to make four different shots. Sponsors this year will include
Abe’s, JMH Rebuilders and Illini Bank.
Kim Fishburn reported she has been working on the Dinner/Dance Fundraiser that will be held in
Oct. 2010. She is going to get a committee together and Mr. Schleicher will check the school
calendar for available dates in Oct. 2010.
Blue and Gold Night will be Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. Sports Boosters will provide three gift baskets, sell
50/50 tickets and tickets for the four-shot attempt.
Cathy Justice and Carla Haukap will be in charge of ticket sellers at all games. They will be asking
all student-athlete parents to help out.
A request was received from the school asking for a donation for work on the baseball field. After a
discussion, it was voted to not make a donation at this time due to the considerable amount of both
money and volunteer time the boosters have put into both the baseball and softball fields the past
few years.
A request also was received to purchase a table covering with the Tri-City logo on it to be used at
school functions. It was voted to not purchase this item.
A thank you will be sent to Kim Fishburn’s mother Mary Linda Graham for her generous donation
of a coffee warmer for the concession stand.
The next meeting will be Nov. 1 at 3:15 p.m., following the Fall Sports Award Program.
