Lady Tigers' win streak snapped

The Tri-City Lady Tigers junior high softball team had won four games in a row before a 13-2
loss to Clinton Tuesday.
T-C stranded 11 runners, including the bases loaded twice.
The Lady Tigers finished with two hits, a Hailey Daniels double and a Hailey Derry single.
Daniels scored a run on a wild pitch after reaching on an error, and Libby Prehoda scored the
other run. She walked, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Kyla Haukap’s
sacrifice bunt.
Last Tuesday, Tri-City whipped Morrisonville 17-6 in five innings. Derry led the hitting attack
with two singles and a double; she had four RBI.
Daniels and Prehoda both recorded doubles and scored, and Lexie Jarrett, Rachael Riser and
Rachael Shanle all added hits.
Lindsey Downing smacked three singles and scored twice.
Haukap swiped three bases and contributed a walk and single.
Daniels got the win in the circle.
Last Thursday, the Lady Tigers beat the rain and Illini Central 17-2 in three innings.
Jarrett picked up her first win of the season.
T-C rapped out 12 hits, including three Daniels singles and a Riser two-bagger.
Friday, T-C picked up a hard-fought 7-5 win over previously unbeaten Edinburg.
Jarrett got things going in the first with a walk and steal of second before she scampered home
on a Daniels double.
Downing was “outstanding,” in coach Bill Ferrill’s words, in the circle early on, and she was
assisted by some stellar defense, according to the coach.
T-C added three markers in the third. Haukap singled and stole second, then Jarrett followed
with a run-scoring single.
Daniels doubled in Jarrett, then Daniels pulled off a delayed steal of third and scored on a
throwing error.
Daniels relieved Downing in the fourth after the hosts had loaded the bases, and she got out
of the jam without Edinburg denting the scoreboard.
The hosts pulled within 4-1 in the fifth, then the Lady Tigers responded with three in the sixth.
Daniels and Derry both walked and then pulled off a double steal; an error allowed Daniels to
score on the same play.
Riser singled in Derry, then Prehoda singled in Riser.
Saturday, the Lady Tigers whipped Pawnee 13-3 in five innings; T-C scored at least two times
in each frame.
Downing (three runs, double) and Prehoda (HBP, run) both had two hits, while Daniels (two
runs), Riser (run) and Shanle chipped in one hit each.
Haukap scored three times and swiped three bases, while Jarrett swiped two bags and
scored once.
Grace Dean was plunked twice and scored twice, and Derry also dented the plate.
