There were plenty of firsts Friday night at the initial Tri-City High School home girls basketball
game, but the most important first did not happen: a win.
Visiting Heritage rallied from an eight-point deficit in the third period and held on at the end for
a 48-44 win over the Lady Tornadoes.
The biggest lead for either team in the first half was three points.
Kaitlyn Tarr had the first-ever home bucket, and she had eight points in the opening quarter,
which ended 11-10 in Heritage’s favor.
Ellie Krone had eight points in the second quarter, which ended 21-21.
An 11-3 run to start the second half put the Lady Tornadoes up 32-24 (Krone had seven, and
Tarr and Abby Hunt both had putback buckets), but the Lady Hawks finished the quarter on a 10-
0 spurt to take a 34-32 lead.
Heritage extended the lead to five on a few occasions in the fourth period.
T-C had chances to pull closer, but nine turnovers and five missed free throws in the final
eight minutes helped prevent a rally.
There were 43 fouls called in the varsity game (after 46 in the J-V game); neither team shot
well from the charity stripe (Heritage 14-for-32 and T-C 3-for-11).
Krone finished with 15 points and Tarr 14. Ally Hunt came off the bench and added six
markers.
T-C (4-0) won the J-V game 28-24; it led 6-0, 13-8 and 20-10 after the first three quarter breaks.
Katie Price had 10 and Ally Hunt eight for the Lady Tornadoes. Stephanie Watkins chipped in
six.

On Saturday, the Lady Tornadoes could not overcome a poor first half in a 46-36 loss to
Pawnee.
T-C scored only three points in the opening stanza and five in the second period and trailed
22-8 at intermission.
It was 34-26 after three periods in favor of the Lady Indians; T-C got as close as six before a
Pawnee 3-pointer helped snuff out any possible rally.
Abby Hunt tossed in 10 (along with 12 rebounds), with Krone and Tarr (seven boards) both
adding nine for the Lady Tornadoes (3-5).
There was no J-V game played.

Through eight games, Tarr leads the varsity in scoring with 9.8 points per game, with Abby
Hunt next at 8.1 ppg. Hunt is averaging 9.6 rebounds per game and Tarr 7.8 rpg.
