Below is a list of the grant recipients. The money came from the Tri-City Education Foundation.
Brian Moore — $1500
This grant will provide matching funds required for a competitive grant application to construct a
greenhouse to be used for practical educational experiences in the agriculture program. Funding
is contingent upon receipt of the grant.
Debra Crowe — $455
This grant will fund a field trip to Chicago for the Spanish II class to attend a performance of the
Hispanic Flamenco Ballet and view the “Day of the Dead” exhibit at the Mexican Fine Arts Museum.
Kim Kramer — $560
This grant will provide funding to purchase the Lindemood Phoneme Sequencing Program to
improve reading and articulation skills in grades K-3.
Karen Park — $298
This grant will allow for the purchase of two iPod Nanos that will allow disabled students to
receive instruction and directions free from auditory distractions.
Kim Kramer — Pending
This grant will allow for the purchase of augmentative/Alternative Communication Devices to be
used by students who are nonverbal or who have severe articulation delays. The final amount of
the grant is pending on funding from another source.
Carolyn Ward/Sandy Gooder — $306
The community GPS Atlas Project will provide funding to purchase hand held GPS units and
software to allow students to determine grid coordinates for a variety of science and math
projects.
Sandy Gooder — $1959
The Foundation will provide $1959 to purchase probeware and computer software. These
products will allow for inquiry labs that will allow students to better understand motion and
Newton’s Laws in the high school physics class.
Donna Kirby — $505.30
This grant will allow for the purchase of five copies of computer software for the yearbook class.
This software will enhance the quality of the yearbook and provide students with the ability to work
with state-of-the-art technology.
Ericka Patrick/Kathy Benton/Janis Bredehoft — $3,000 -$4500
This grant will allow for the purchase of a Read Naturally integrated learning system that will be
used with elementary and middle school students to improve their reading skills.
Diane Dankowski — $393.07
Funds from this grant will be used to purchase a digital camera and an upgrade of Adobe
Illustrator software. This will allow the art students to explore the use of technology in art.
Carolyn Ward — $1680.89
This grant will allow for the purchase of 10 graphing calculators and equipment to connect a
calculator to a TV or computer projector. The equipment will provide one calculator for each
student to use in advanced math classes.
Ericka Patrick — $593
The Foundation will provide funds for the purchase of Super Phonics software for use by
students in grades 1-3. The software will help students improve their phonics skills.
The Tri-City Education Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation that accepts tax
deductible contributions. Funds donated are used to supplement, enhance and enrich
educational programs for the students of the Tri-City Schools. Funds may also be used to
support innovative academic units designed to increase student achievement. For more
