New T-C Elementary after-school pick-up
procedures
By Byron Painter

Our elementary school is trying to make the afterschool pickup procedure safer for our
students.  We have converted our lane into a two-way road to allow traffic flow.  We, however, are
running into the problem which we expected: the congestion at the door.  We are asking you
please be aware of pick up times for each grade.
Pickup times for the regular schedule day of 3 p.m. will be:
 --Preschool at 2:45 p.m.
 --K-1-2 at 2:50 p.m.
 --3-4-5 at 2:55 p.m.
Pick up times for a 2 p.m. dismissal will be:
 --Preschool at 1:45 p.m.
 --K-1-2 at 1:50 p.m.
 --3-4-5 at 1:55 p.m.
When picking up your student (s), please stay in your vehicle; as you pull up, your student(s)
will be sent out to the car (a photo ID may be required to verify the permission list).  This is
intended to reduce the risk of injury for the students as well as speed up the process while
reducing the traffic jam that has existed for years.
If you arrive early, please stay in the high school lot until it is your arrival time.  The high school
will not exit the school until after the assigned pickup times for the elementary has passed
(being 2 p.m. or 3 p.m., respectively).
When exiting from picking up your children, please remember to avoid the bus area in front of
the school.  Keep to the left side of the parking lot until you reach the back and then exit to the
right, for your own safety as well as the entire student population.
If you need to speak with the elementary office for any reason, there will be four parking spots
available for visitors and or guests.  Feel free to park in those spots but please be aware that
during dismissal times, you may be blocked in until after the fifth grade lets out.
Thank you for your understanding and please feel free to offer any other ideas to help create a
safe environment for our students.
