Mechanicsburg Village Board December
meeting minutes
   The Village of Mechanicsburg regular December meeting was called to order with the Pledge
of Allegiance.
   Present were Mayor Trew, Trustees Shoaff, Rogers, Aarup and Payton, and Treasurer Kriener
and Clerk Berndt. Trustees Hohimer and Metcalf were absent.
   Recognition of Visitors: Nothing to report.
   Mechanicsburg-Buffalo Water Commission Report: Nothing to report.
   Engineer’s Report: Nothing to report.        
   Zoning Report: Nothing to report.
   Police Report: Incident report — One break-in that has been resolved.
   Approval of Minutes: Nov. 2 minutes approved 4-0.
   Payment of Monthly Bills: TIF Payment to Griffith Creek Estates Developer — $77,159
   TIF Payment to Tri-City School — $1,166.29 – 23.34 percent of final tax payment.
   Payment of bills as of Dec. 7 approved 4-0.
Agenda Items:
   1. Sealed Bid for Ford Explorer — No bids were received.
   2. Sealed Bid for Oak Desk — No bids were received.
   3. Withholding of payment of Annual Fire Hydrant Maintenance Fee — $1,725 — Tabled:
Further research needed to determine if part of rate base.
   4. Durrazo junk car municipal fine – further penalties and or court action — Fees/fines have
been issued in the amount of $225. — Motion was made to postpone issuing further fines until
January’s meeting. A letter from their attorney can be obtained indicating that vehicle needs to be
present. Motion was approved 4-0.
   5. Back Hoe Agreement with Mechanicsburg — Buffalo Water Commission — Tabled until
next meeting. More research needed.
   6. Approval of 2010 Monthly Meeting Schedule. Motion approved 4-0.
   7.  2010 Census – Proclamation and Activity. Motion approved 4-0.
Mayor’s Report:
   --Waste Haulers contract scheduled for January vote.
   — Mayor Trew would like to contact Dawson and Buffalo to compare their contracts.
   --Magic Celebration Committee
–         volunteer participation needed
   --War Memorial Committee
   – a letter will sent to all residents. The letter will contain the proposed plan, a request for a
donation and a request for information for anyone who should be on the monument.
   --County Building Permit — Inspection
   — Mayor Trew has contacted Jim Stone. Mr. Stone will be meeting with the County Board
Chairman to draft a letter for the board to sign.
   --Mayor Trew thanked Trustee Albert Hohimer for installing the village Christmas lights. He
also thanked Sue Tapscott for refurbishing the Christmas lights.
   Todd Byers is donating new carpet for the village hall.  The Mayor has contact a local installer
and received a reasonable quote. Trustee Payton and Trustee Shoaff would like to find other
bids. They will contact Mayor Trew within a week.
   Trustee Reports: Trustee Shoaff — Nothing to report.
   Trustee Rogers – People a speeding through Griffith’s creek. Mayor Trew will contact the
Police Chief.
   Trustee Aarup –  Nothing to report.
   Trustee Payton — Obstructions / tree branches blocking driver’s sight.
   Adjournment: Motion to adjourn approved by 4-0 vote.
