Buffalo Village Board minutes
The regular meeting of the Village of Buffalo was called to order at 7 p.m. by Mayor Vetter with the
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Members present were Bill Vetter, Joe Lester, Bob Thaxton, Pam Paul, Lori Payne-Mullett, Tom
Paige and Rose Magowan (acting treasurer).
There were no visitors.
Reading of minutes: Correction was made to the date of the tentative budget of May 1, 2008 to April
30, 2009. Paige made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected, seconded by Payne-Mullett.
Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: Magowan read the treasurer’s report. Payne-Mullett made a motion to accept the
treasurer’s report, seconded by Paige. Motion passed.
Communications: U.S. Post Office sent a list of job openings.
Governor’s Prayer Breakfast will be April 23 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Buffalo has been appointed as Tree City USA. Congratulations were received from Senator Obama.
HMB of Hartford, Ct., is managing the property at 407 S. Wells Street for HUD.
The Motor Fuel Tax will go down by 1 percent.
Reading of Bills: Municipal League will provide bond coverage of $50,000 each for the mayor, clerk
and treasurer at no additional cost. Lester made a motion to accept the coverage, seconded by
Paige. Motion passed. Magowan read the bills. Payne-Mullett made a motion to approve the bills,
seconded by Paige. Motion carried 6-0.
Committee Reports
Finance: Will need to adopt an investment plan if do not already have one. Will check with the
attorney on this.
Public Health and Safety: Paul said the all-town garage sale will be May 3. Paige made a motion to
spend no more than $200 to advertise, seconded by Magowan. Motion passed 6-0.
Parks and Boulevards: Some of the flags need to be replaced. Paul will look into the cost.
Streets and Alleys, Sidewalks, Police and Trees: No report.
Recycling: The county will accept computers at the Village Hall. Paul will be at the Hall on March 22
from 9 a.m.-noon.
There was no other unfinished or new business.
Thaxton made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Paige. Motion passed.
