Blue and Gold Night

The Tri-City Tornado Blue & Gold Night
will be held Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. in the T-C
Sports Center. Tornado fans will have
the opportunity to come out meet
players, cheerleaders and coaches while
rooting on their Tornadoes while enjoying
various drawings and contest. This year
there is a special addition to the

Lady Tornadoes will make their debut in
front of the home crowd.
Tri-City Youth Intramural
Basketball program offered
As winter approaches, so does basketball
season. In an effort to develop our younger
prospects — the future of Tornado basketball —
we are implementing a youth intramural
basketball program. This program is being
offered to any boy or girl currently in grades 1-5.
There is a $25 fee that will go toward a practice
jersey. Signup ends Nov. 7. The aim of this
program is to teach the fundamentals of
basketball — ball handling, passing, shooting,
rebounding and defense — along with good
sportsmanship and team play. Each “session”
will be conducted on Sunday afternoons,
beginning later this month and run through
December and January. We will focus on
fundamentals the first half and scrimmage the
second. The specific dates, along with times,
will be announced at a later date. Coaches and
players from the boys’ and girls’ programs will be
conducting the workouts. If interested in
signing up a prospect, please contact Coach
Steve Dilley at 364-4035.
Mt. Pulaski/Tri-
City soccer
downs Lanphier
The visiting Mt. Pulaski/Tri-City
soccer team scored twice in the
second half and blanked Lanphier
2-0 Saturday at Lee Field. After
being unable to cash in on a
penalty kick in the 35th minute,
the Hilltoppers cashed in after
halftime. Both tallies came from
Tri-City student Matt Justice, in
the 50th and 51st minutes.
Kendal Gibbs provided the helper
on the first marker, then fellow T-
C student Griffin Brunson set
him up for the second tally, after
“some hard work in the box,”
according to coach Christian
Fletcher. The Hilltoppers outshot
the Lions 21-8 while posting their
first shutout of the campaign.
Mt. Pulaski had all 13 of the
contest’s corner kicks, and T-C
student Skylar Morris made five
saves in goal. Last Tuesday,
Rochester defeated the
Hilltoppers 7-0, and on Thursday,
Olympia pulled out a 1-0 win.
Monday the Hilltoppers suffered a
2-1 loss at Pleasant Plains.

minutes. Justice found the back
of the net (fellow Tornado Chris
Curry had the helper) three
minutes into the second half.

with a header in the 65th minute.
The Hilltoppers outshot the
Cardinals 16-14, with a dozen of
those shots after halftime. Morris
made nine saves in net.
Hilltoppers drop
two
Visiting Warrensburg-Latham
ruined Mt. Pulaski/Tri-City soccer’
s senior day with a 4-2 win
Saturday. The Cardinals blitzed
the Hilltoppers for three goals in
the first five minutes. Mt. P/T-C
got one goal back in the 23rd
minute, when T-C student Matt
Justice set up Nate Johnston,
who headed the ball home. T-C
student Chris Curry scored four
minutes later, thanks to “some
tough play from Ryan Gibbs,”
according to coach Christian
Fletcher. W-L put the game out of
reach with a tally in the 55th
minute. T-C’s Skylar Morris made
11 saves for the Hilltoppers. Mt.
Pulaski/T-C was scheduled to
open postseason play Wednesday
at Williamsville. Last Thursday,
the visiting Riverton Hawks
defeated the Hilltoppers 3-1.
Curry scored the only Mt. P goal,
with Justice providing the helper.
Riverton outshot the Hilltoppers
10-5, and Morris made six saves.

The king’s health has taken a turn for the
worse and his death is imminent. The only
offspring of the King, a maiden princess, now
must choose a husband to rule the kingdom.
As potential suitors duel for her hand in
marriage, two Shakespearean strangers crash
our festive party, which leaves us all
wondering…Who will the Princess choose? Tri-
City will be hosting its annual Madrigal Feast
Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. and the afternoon tea Dec.
14 at 2 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Royal Court features Kim Garner as the
Princess and Haley Daniels, Chloee Dunham,
Darby Dunham, Julie Ealey, Kylie Edwards,
Amelia Kirby, Sammy Kriener, Hannah Moore
and Leah Shumaker as Ladies in Waiting. This
year’s cast presents Matt Justice reprising his
role as the court jester, Ashley Gist and Faith
Dennison as wenches, Tanner Davis and Ryan
Pfeiffer as our Princess’ potential suitors and
in surprise appearances, Emmett Kilhoffer as
Romeo and Adam Nutt as Mercutio. Tri-City
board member, Mr. Bill Marvin, will resume
his role as King.

court singers in merry song and celebrating
with us over a sumptuous meal or delectable
tea! Along with cups of steaming wassail, our
feast will include salad, turkey and fixings,
hot rolls and flaming pudding for dessert. Our

Tri-City teacher and coach Steve Dilley
puckered up Friday night for a good cause
and kissed a pig from the Fishburn family.
Kim Fishburn’s father, Tom Graham, passed
away in January from pancreatic cancer, just
four months after being diagnosed. She and
her mother and sister organized a Memorial
Wine and Beer Tasting benefit held Nov. 1 in
Taylorville, with all proceeds from the benefit
to be sent to the Michael Rolfe Pancreatic
Cancer Foundation (www.rolfefoundation.org).
A couple of months ago, Fishburn asked
Dilley, a Taylorville native, if he would
participate in a “Kiss a Pig” contest to help
raise money. Dilley said he did not expect to
win, but he won easily, raising more than four
times the money than his two opponents.
Overall, over $4000 was raised and sent to
the Rolfe Foundation from the benefit.
