Roscetti commits to Iowa baseball

Williamsville High School senior Nick Roscetti is a talented three-sport athlete, but college baseball was his goal, and thanks to the
University of Iowa, that goal will be achieved.
Roscetti was a sought-after shortstop/pitcher, including Michigan State among Big 10 schools, but Iowa came in late, and last week, he
verbally committed to play for the Hawkeyes.
The Hawkeye staff has told Roscetti, who also excels at football and basketball, that he will compete for a spot as a freshman.
“I loved everything about Iowa,” he said. “It was an easy decision.”
Roscetti said he wanted to make the decision before the start of the football season, when he will play quarterback for the Bullets.
Roscetti hit .459 and had on-base percentage of .574 for the Bullets last spring while earning all-Sangamo Conference honors. For good
measure, he was 6-3 on the mound with a 1.81 ERA.
“Baseball’s always been my favorite sport,” he said. “I knew a long time ago I wanted to play college baseball.”
His athletic grant-in-aid will be covering about half of his expenses.
While undecided about a major, Roscetti, the son of Rick and Teri Roscetti, mentioned something in the sciences as a possibility.
WHS baseball coach Jess Buttry is very pleased for his infield stalwart.
“He’s just so coachable. He’s one of our hardest workers since he was a freshman. You never have to worry about him doing the right
thing.”
