Clear Lake Family Wishes program a huge success
The 2009 donations and fundraising efforts totaled over $9300 this year for the Family Wishes Program. A total of 51 families totaling 202 people were assisted this year.
Since starting, this is the largest amount received in the history of the program. The Township tried a few new fundraisers this year, including the Tug-A-Truck competition,
Garage Sale, a Sports Auction and a Pancake breakfast. The yearly Silent Auction Christmas Party and 50/50 were also held.
Donations are always needed for the many items such as stocking stuffers, gloves and extras like games and books. Collections were received from Jeanne and Rick Hector,
Don and LeAnn Carver, Riverton Head Start, Dean and Lynn Lewison and Doug Carver.
An increase this year was given by the largest number of Secret Santas. The Secret Santas Program allows you to adopt a family anonymously and cover both the costs and
the shopping needed. Our Secret Santas included Richard and Joyce Hinds, Jim and Amy Kulek, Jessica Tucker, Alan and Brenda Hinds, Gary and Frana Evans, St. James
Bible Study Group and Riverton United Methodist Church. During these economical times, their generosity was overwhelming and so much appreciated.
Our last acts of kindness were shown by our shoppers this year. It was the largest number of volunteers that we have had so far. Shoppers meet at Wal-Mart at 8 a.m., receive
their lists and are off to shop till they drop. Wal-Mart reserves our own checkout lane and volunteers help unload carts, sack and then pack their cars for a trip to the Township
for delivery. Deserving a foot massage and a pat on the back, they were treated to a much deserved lunch at Cheddar’s. Thanks to our shoppers: Julie Sprinkel, Shirley Lee,
Shirley Losey, Kim Pearson, Mike Foster, Mike Smith, Susan Smith, Sherrie Esserine, Vicke Streb, Tracy Stoppelworth, Sandy Armstrong, Dorothy Brake, JoAnn Rohrer and
Shirley Wieland.
Efforts are already underway for next year’s fundraising. If you have a suggestion or would like to participate in helping with the program, call Christina at 523-4210.
