Spaulding Village Board May meeting minutes
The Village of Spaulding May meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Ed Egnott, Mayor Mark Urban was absent.
Roll call was taken: All present are: Ed Egnott, Brian Cuffle, Jeff Hubbs, Dan Sexton and Amy Cunningham. Absent: Mayor Mark Urban and Mary Ann Burge.
Motion was made by Brian Cuffle and seconded by Dan Sexton to waive the reading of the last month’s minutes. All in favor, motion carries.

Motion was made by Amy Cunningham and seconded by Jeff Hubbs to accept treasure’s report. All in favor, motion carries.
Police Report (Kenny Metcalf): A very hectic month once again for the police department. Our calls for service have begun to rise once again with the warmer spring weather.
The Impala squad car had an engine problem two weeks ago, we had to replace two coil packs on the motor, I went ahead and had Ernie Keppler make the repair.
No progress has been made on the shooter in Spaulding lake estates area; however to our knowledge no other reports of bullets falling from the sky have occurred either.
Officer Hillyer has been donating a lot of hours in the preparation of our Traffic Safety Fair, which is in conjunction with our application for the Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge.
As of this writing we have secured commitments from the following companies and individuals.
Illinois State Police — Roll over simulator; Secretary of State Police — seat belt sled; Springfield Police seat belt sled (day 2); Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office – DUI
simulator golf cart, the command vehicle for staging purposes, two deputies for educational seminars on DUI to graduated driver’s licensing. Conservation Police— display
trailer; Medics First — displaying a new ambulance and doing free blood pressure screenings; Riverton Fire Dept. – mock extrications; Spaulding Police Dept. – texting
challenge; ILEAS— Emergency response vehicle on display; SOS — Officer on child safety restraint and installation of car seats.
Additionally these other agencies and companies have donated the following: INB bank $100 for two $100 savings bonds. Monsanto Corporation — $100 for two $100 savings
bonds plus donated three porta potties for the event; Kim’s Auto Body $150 to purchase three $100 savings bonds; Riverton Fast Stop $100 for two $100 savings bonds; Event
T-shirts were sponsored by Riverton Eagles Club; Bill Roberts Flooring; Dockers Tavern; Riverbottom Rejects; Riverton Village Tap; and the Living Well center. Frito Lay donated
500 bags of potato chips, Midstate meats donated 700 hot dogs/buns and sweet tea and lemonade. Canham Graphics donated all the banners, Springfield Battery new
batteries for the sheriff’s golf cart.
The Village of Spaulding and the Spaulding Police department is sponsoring a coloring contest associated with this safety fair for the grades of K-4 of the Riverton Elementary
School.
We need a volunteer or two from the village board to be the judges for the coloring contest. A $100 savings bond is being given to the winner from each grade.
