Lady Hawks crush St. Al’s
Host Tri-City scored three runs in the fifth to break a tie score and held on for a 5-4 junior high softball win over Riverton last Friday.
The Lady Hawks scored three in the seventh and left two runners on base as the game ended.
After the Lady Hawks could not take advantage of an Alyssa Koger single in the first, the Lady Tigers scored in the bottom half. Megan Spain blooped a double, and after Libby
Prehoda’s sacrifice and a hit batsman to Morgan Leka, Bethany Daniels’ grounder to second plated Spain.
Riverton pulled even in the second. Kiersten Burge singled with one out, and with two out, Stephanie Mizeur walked. Two passed balls eventually scored Burge.
Lerin Hughes walked and Burge singled in the fourth, but winning hurler Payton Sturdy got the last two batters.
Katie Jarrett was plunked by a Jessica Rodriguez with two out in the fourth; Hailey Patrick entered to run, but BreAnna Cravens lined out.
The Lady Tigers scored three unearned tallies in the fifth. With two out, Lauren Pickrell walked, and Brooke Prehoda entered to run.
Spain was safe on an error and later swiped second, and after Libby Prehoda walked, Leka singled in two. An error on the play also plated a run.
Morgan Heckman walked and swiped second and third in the sixth but was stranded.
T-C got a key insurance marker in the sixth.
Jenny King started the seventh with a single, and Mizeur and Sydney Nabb both walked to end Sturdy’s day in favor of Pickrell.
The Lady Hawks pulled off a double steal that including a swipe of home by King, and Mizeur also stole home in the frame.
With two out, Shelby Ireland laced a double to plate Lamkey, but Pickrell, after a walk, got the final out on a grounder.
Sturdy struck out nine and walked five in the win, while Rodriguez fanned seven.

The Lady Hawks ripped St. Aloysius 18-0 in three innings Monday. Megan Aubuchon pitched the first inning and Rodriguez the last two; they combined to record all nine outs
via strikeout.
RMS scored four in the first, five in the second and nine in the third. Heckman had a sacrifice fly and Burge a run-scoring single in the first. Aubuchon and Koger had RBI
singles in the second, while two runs scored on wild pitches and one on an error.
In the third, Koger had a run-scoring single, while Rodriguez plated a run with a sacrifice bunt. Hughes singled in a run, as did Heckman, and Hailey Dickerson, Mallory Tacker
and Rodriguez all drew bases-loaded walks.
