No burning allowed on Clear Lake Twp. roadways
Clear Lake Township would like to remind all residents that burning on the roadways is not allowed within the Township.  When
residents burn leaves or other debris, the fire burns oil out of the payment, creating damage on roads.  Last year, there was a heavy
concentration of burning in Holiday Estates. We would like to remind these residents and all residents of the no burning on roadway
rule.  Homeowners should obtain leaf collection bags and contact their local waste hauler about leaf pickup.  This process saves
money in repairing damage and reduces environmental hazards of smoke in the air.
Rash of car break-ins in Riverton/Spaulding area
There have been numerous break-ins in recent weeks in Riverton and Spaulding. According to Riverton Police Chief Dave Smith, it
appears that the suspects are the same people. Mainly, all of the burglaries have been happening during the late night/early
morning hours.  The suspect(s) are targeting unlocked vehicles. They have taken car stereos, cash and other small objects from
the cars. In one case, the suspects obtained a loaded handgun from a car. Chief Smith encourages everyone to lock their cars, as it
appears the burglar(s) are ignoring locked cars with the windows rolled up. If anyone observes or hears anything that could be
suspicious, they should call 629-9800 or 911 immediately, said Smith. A witness has observed at least two teenage males
messing around cars.  However, at this time, there are not any firm suspects.

Riverton providing cutting-edge energy audit technology online
In cooperation with its wholesale power supplier, the Village of Riverton is now providing customers with the latest technology available to access accurate and detailed energy
efficiency information online.  Located at www.IMEA.org, the new HomeEnergySuite™ now allows customers to easily see the impact of the weather on their energy use. In
addition, this new intuitive interface allows users to view charts that break down energy use system by system. Clicking on the chart then hovering over the bars displays dollar
amounts representing energy costs broken down by cooling, heating, lighting, cooking hot water heating and big screen TVs. The ability to run an energy analysis specific to a
home’s construction, local weather and utility rates provides valuable data to homeowners allowing them to make cost-effective energy choices.
“The Village of Riverton is committed to providing our customers with the most reliable energy efficiency information. Now, through our partnership with IMEA, we have the most
effective way to educate our customers on how they can become more aware of energy use. The online energy audit is letting homeowners know how much money can be saved
by their conservation efforts,” Village of Riverton Trustee Rich Pottier explained.
The HomeEnergySuite is run by a sophisticated energy-use analysis system developed by APOGEE Interactive, Inc. a software development firm based in Atlanta, Ga., that
specializes in online solutions for the energy industry. According to Apogee’s president Susan Gilbert, “The issue of energy efficiency is of great concern to utilities, as of today over
200 utilities nationwide have added this educational feature to their Web sites.  Its ability to answer customers’ questions 24/7 and reduce customer inquiries helps Riverton in
accomplishing its goal of increasing customer satisfaction while lowering operating costs.”
“IMEA is extremely pleased to be able to offer this new tool to the citizens of our member communities,” said IMEA President and CEO Ronald D. Earl. “We’ve been selling
wholesale power to municipal electric systems for a quarter century and we want to make certain that all our members have the tools they need to use that electricity wisely and
efficiently.”
“In cooperation with the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency, its wholesale power supplier, the Village of Riverton is now providing customers coupons – which offer $1 off the
purchase price of any General Electric Energy Smart or Energy Star compact fluorescent light bulb,” said Pottier.   These coupons are part of “E2C2” a comprehensive energy-
efficiency program currently being implemented by IMEA on behalf of its members. The coupons can be used anywhere GE products are sold and are valid through Dec. 31. The
coupons are available at the village hall.

Pulliam, Hawks beat Bullets for first time
Spencer Pulliam scored in the 56th minute to provide the game's only tally as the Riverton Hawks soccer team edged past Williamsville 1-0 Monday afternoon in the season
opener for both squads. Freshman Kevin Bertolino got the assist on the play, which saw Pulliam corral the ball in the box and fire a shot past Bullet keeper Ben Levin, who got a
hand on the ball but could not stop it from going in. The Hawks had missed two golden scoring chances in the early moments of the second half. Pulliam banged a shot off the
crossbar, and Nick Schrock's header attempt off a corner grazed off the bar and rolled harmlessly through the crease. The win for Riverton was the first over the Bullets since the
schools ended their co-op four years ago.
