Lions Club delivers 53 Christmas baskets
The Pawnee Lions with help from several Pawnee High School students and members from Pawnee Girl Scout Troop 6049
met at the Pawnee Township Building early Saturday morning to fill the annual Christmas Baskets with turkeys and all the
trimmings for a holiday feast. Girls Scouts helped Lion Tom Stelte prepare fruit for delivery to numerous Pawnee Senior Citizens
as a small token of gratitude for their many contributions to the community.
Many Pawnee families and business people have embraced the Lions Christmas Basket Food Drive every year and it has
become a holiday tradition for many; a way to share the bounty of the season and to help all families enjoy a Christmas feast.

Project Chairman Denny Seiz stated that this year is the best year ever in the long-standing history of the Lions Christmas Basket
Drive. “The people and organizations of Pawnee were really generous in their donations this year.” The Lions lost a major
contribution last year, and with the economy as it is, the Lions were able to fill and deliver fifty-three Christmas food baskets to
Pawnee area families.
Donations were received from Bill and Marilyn Dickey, Craig Dickey, Pawnee Chapter No. 436-Order of Eastern Star, Tom
and Bonnie McTaggart, John and Debbie Marks, James and Marie Marvin, Sue and Kent Thomas, Larry and Kathryn Hamblin,
