Pawnee K of C trivia night set for February 26
The Pawnee Knights of Columbus will hold a trivia night Saturday, February 26 at the KC Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. with trivia to begin at 7 p.m.
The theme for the evening will be “Beyond the Beads” with prizes for the top three teams. Food and drinks will be served. The entry fee is $10 per
player with six to eight players per team. Teams can reserve a table by calling (217) 622-3941. Proceeds from the event will be directed to local
communities through the Pawnee Knights of Columbus Charitable Fund.
Prairie Days Association steps up for July 4 fireworks
Trustees Steve Condon, Tom Bowen, Terry Woodcock, David Skinner and Mark Gleason were present Monday evening as were Mayor Clarke,

Pawnee to host 2011 Tri-County Honor Band
The Pawnee Schools band program, under the direction of Jamie Springman, invites the public to the 2011 Tri-County Band Festival, which will
be held at Pawnee Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m. The festival will consist of selected members from seven area high school bands who will
rehearse throughout the day in both concert band and jazz band, then give a concert that night. Other schools in the festival will include Auburn,
New Berlin, North Mac, Northwestern, Riverton and Waverly. Pawnee will be hosting the Tri-County Festival for the first time in eight years.
Serving as guest conductor will be Dr. Milton Allen, who is currently serving as Visiting Associate Director of Bands at Ohio State University where
his duties include conducting the OSU Symphonic Band and teaching courses in undergraduate instrumental conducting. Dr. Allen is also the
Director of Bands and Instrumental Division Director at Eastern Illinois University. Pawnee students chosen to perform in the festival include:

Young receives DAR Good Citizen Award
Bailey Young, the daugher of Ron and Sherry Young, has been named as the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award winner
this year from Pawnee High School. Faculty and students at PHS chose Bailey for the award as dependability, service, leadership and patriotism
are all an important part of her life. Her school activities include Student Council, yearbook staff, National Honor Society, cheerleading, Fellowship
of Christian Athletes, musicals “State Fair” and “Sound of Music” and SADD member. Bailey is active in church and community affairs and helps
out around her home. Her future plans are to attend the University of Illinois at Springfield to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education
and become a teacher. The DAR award is given to each year to an outstanding senior boy or girl who displays to an outstanding degree the
qualities of dependabilty, service, leadership and patriotism. Students chosen by their fellow students and faculty receive a pin and certificate and
are honored at a meeting of the Peter Meyer DAR Chapter, to be held February 26 in Taylorville. Area winners are also invited to attend the Illinois
State Conference, where one DAR Award winner will be chosen as the state’s Good Citizen with the chance to be honored as the national winner.
Fire Protection District looks for volunteer help
The Pawnee Fire Protection District is looking for volunteers. The PFPD would love to hear from people willing to work hard for little to no pay
while knowing that people are counting on them in an emergency. To fill out an application or for more information, visit the PFPD website at
www.pawneefire.org, call 625-3131 or stop by the firehouse at 8th and Carroll Streets. There is no prior training required to volunteer. The PFPD
offers in-house fire and EMS training on a monthly basis and has some of the best equipment in central Illinois. Thanks to the community for your

PUMC to hold Busby fundraiser dinner March 27
The Pawnee United Methodist Church will be hosting a Pasta Dinner for Ryan Busby and family to help raise money in their time of need. The
dinner will be served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, March 27. Adult meals are $5 and children $3. Carry-outs are available.
Village Board approves new connection fees
All trustees were present for the March 14 board meeting; however, Trustee Tom Bowen was delayed and arrived only minutes before the
meeting adjourned. (more)
