Legion Homecoming June 23-25 on Square
Chatham American Legion Post 759 will host the 64th Annual Chatham American Legion Homecoming event on the Village Square
in Chatham June 23-25.
The Annual Homecoming Event started 64 years ago when our troops were returning home from overseas.  The Chatham community
wanted to show its support for the returning troops by having a ‘Big Community Picnic.'
The Chatham American Legion Homecoming, in its early days, was the big event of the summer.  The Chatham American Legion
continues that tradition, even today, as our men and women are being deployed around the world.
The Chatham American Legion Homecoming is one of several fund-raisers Chatham American Legion Post 759 has during the year.
People still plan their vacations around the Homecoming and come back to renew old acquaintances and even make new ones.
Everyone is invited to come out and relive old memories and make new ones while helping support those who served and fought in
our military forces for our country, giving us the freedoms we enjoy today. Let’s show them our support by attending one of the oldest
picnic-type Festivals in Sangamon County. This year’s menu includes: Walleye fish sandwiches, chicken tenders, hot dogs, river fries,
brats and barbecue sandwiches. There will be plenty of beverages for the whole family to choose from.
This year’s Homecoming will again feature a Street Carnival. This year’s All Ride Specials include $1 Carnival rides Thursday night
from 5 p.m. to closing and on Saturday from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
There will be live music nightly, starting at 7:30 p.m.  Thursday night’s band will be “The Mud Bugs” and Friday features “Still Kick’n”.
Saturday’s events include the afternoon parade along with $1 rides.  “Kung Fu Dynamite” will be the evening entertainment.
There will be a parade on Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m. We are inviting all men and women who have returned home this past year
from a tour of duty to participate in your uniform in the parade as our Honorary Grand Marshals. For more information about the parade,
contact Michelle Schiff  at 217-816-3730.
Chatham American Legion Post 759 is looking for volunteers, vendors and activities. If you are a vendor or have an activity and would
like to have a space at this annual event, contact Joe Ori at 793-3224.
If you would like to volunteer to help during this event call Pat Schad, Commander, at 483-4084.
