School board approves personnel moves
The Ball-Chatham Board of Education held a regularly scheduled personnel meeting March 31
at the District Office.
Following closed session, a number of personnel items were approved. Also, during open
session, the board heard of two requests regarding correspondence courses. A vote is
expected next month. The personnel moves included the following:
•The board accepted the resignations of Holly Hodges (BE playground supervisor) and Corie
Yow (GMS football poms coach), along with the retirement of Jeanette Robison (GHS English
teacher, effective at end of current school year).
The board voted to employ Lindsey Eubanks as playground supervisor at Ball Elementary.
The rest of the personnel items dealt with yearly renewals and honorable dismissals, along
with approval of several items.
•The board honorably dismissed a number of certified staff members, along with a number of
ESP staff.
•Non-tenured teachers were also rehired, with those going from fourth year to receiving tenure
including: Erin Durr, Lorie Allison, Tiffanie Butler, Gina Coonrod, Rita Fieldbinder, Tiffanie Lee,
Crystal Day, Kristy Hayes, Monica Broeckling, Kathryn Elvidge, Brian Esker, Amy Getz, Elizabeth
Sanford, Gina Swickard, Nicole Brawner, Sara Fricke and Jeff Waggener.
•A number of ESP staff were also rehired, along with the fall coaches. Currently, the only fall
coaching openings are for fall asst. cheerleading and fall poms coaches. Extra-curricular
sponsors, department coordinators and team leaders were also rehired by the board, along with
four part-time staff members. In addition, administrative contracts were renewed by the board.
•Additional certified staff positions at GHS and GMS were approved, with an additional
English/Social Science position and one-third English position added at GMS, along with two
additional special education teachers a half-time Health position. At GHS, half-time PE/Health
and half-time French positions were approved.
•Three additional coaching positions were approved for Glenwood Middle School, including two
7th grade football coaches and an additional cross country coach. Numbers in the cross country
program have neared 80 participants in recent years, prompting the need for a third coach.
•The board also approved changes to the guidance staff at the elementary level, bringing
services in line with a 600 student to one guidance position ratio at each school. The next
