Neuses appointed to Ball-Chatham Board
Former school board president and member Jim Neuses has been appointed to serve the
remainder of Matt Keppler's term on the Ball-Chatham Board of Education.
Neuses was one of three candidates interviewed by the school board Monday night; the others
were former Ball Elementary principal Linda Carter and Steve Copp.
Neuses is expected to be seated at the board's upcoming meeting on Jan. 26.  His term will
last until the spring of 2011.
The board's vote was 5-1, with only Joe Hartzler voting no.  Hartzler told the Clarion he was
in favor of Linda Carter being appointed.
"I have nothing against Jim, but Linda would single-handedly represent three constituencies
not represented on the board - grandparent, retiree and educator," he explained.  "She is just a
uniquely qualified individual."
Keppler had to resign back in December due to his relocation out of the area.  The seat was
open to interested applicants in Ball congressional township, where Keppler was from.
