Butler, Courtney remain unbeaten as GMS
sends six to Sectionals
    Six Glenwood Middle School wrestlers have qualified for the IESA Chatham Glenwood Sectional, to
be held this Saturday at the GIS Fieldhouse starting at 9 a.m.
    Glenwood hosted the Chatham Regional last Saturday at GIS, and the Titans came away with four
individual champions, along with second and fourth place finishes at 275 and 95 pounds, respectively.
    •Skyler Voss (16-13) won one match and earned the title at 70 pounds.  He pinned Liam Downing of
PORTA in 1:23.
    •At 90 pounds, Sam Butler remained undefeated at 25-0, surviving a 1-0 decision over Corson
Anderson of Litchfield in his title bout.  The match was scoreless until 13 seconds remained, when
Butler scored a 1-point escape.  Butler added pins over Riley Kivett and Justin Wilson in his other two
matches on the day.
    •Trez Courtney won three matches to improve to 29-4, claiming the title at 126 pounds.  Courtney
defeated Jack Klopfenstein of Fulton by 6-2 decision.  He added pins over Seth Knox and Zach Carroll
in his previous matches.
    •Nik Courtney also remained undefeated on the season, moving to 31-0 by winning two matches at
155 pounds.  Courtney won both of his matches by pin, the first over Ramsey Al-Khamoas of Cahokia
and the title bout over Herman Gomilla of Cahokia.
    •Grant Lee (275) wrestled one match on the day, falling by pin to Jacob Williams of Litchfield in the
title bout at 275.
    •At 95, Chris Nation (18-8) battled his way to fourth place, finishing 2-2 on the day.  Nation won by 6-2
decision over Nick Hamilton of Jacksonville Turner before falling to Devon Fenton of Litchfield by 7-0
decision.  Nation defeated Chandler Pillsbury of PORTA by pin to advance to the third place bout, where
he lost by 7-2 decision to Chris Fenton of Litchfield.
    At the Glenwood Sectional, first through fourth place winners of each weight class from the Macomb
and Glenwood Regionals will be competing.  The top three finishers in each weight class will advance
to the state tournament at Northern Illinois University next weekend.
