
Kavanagh re-elected; Boyle, Holden new
village trustees
Incumbent Tom Kavanagh won election to a third term as a trustee on the Chatham Village
Board in Tuesday’s election.
Kavanagh will be joined by newcomers Ken Boyle and Dan Holden. Each were elected to
four-year terms. Voter turnout was 28.15 percent in Sangamon County.
Boyle was the top vote-getter in the seven-man field, with 976 votes (24.93 percent).
Kavanagh was next with 829 (21.17) and Holden had 715 (18.26). Rounding out the field were:
Dave Kimsey (557 votes, 14.23 percent), Jason Rauch (377, 9.63), Ryan Vaughn (294, 7.5) and
James Burgdorf (167, 4.27).
Boyle will follow in the footsteps of his mother, Jeanne, a current board member who did
not seek re-election. Incumbent Jill Reynolds also did not run. Current board members not up
for election include Mayor Tom Gray and trustees Chuck Herr, Joe Schatteman and Matthew
Mau.

Voter turnout in the Chatham precincts was: Chatham 6 (18.6 percent), Chatham 5 (15.76
percent), Chatham 4 (15.43 percent), Chatham 3 (16.92 percent), Chatham 2 (22.52 percent)
and Chatham 1 (18.11 percent).
In the Ball precincts, turnout was: Ball 5 (27.67 percent), Ball 4 (14.23 percent), Ball 3 (30.90
percent), Ball 2 (6.75 percent) and Ball 1 (13.43 percent).
•In the uncontested races for Chatham Area Public Library trustee, Christine Westerlund
and Matt Keppler were elected to four-year terms, with one position still open. Deborah
Schumer was elected to fill a vacant two-year position.
