Bartolozzi charges Hansen with violation of
Open Meetings Act

Ball-Chatham Board of Education member Mark Bartolozzi has alleged that board president Patrick
Hansen has violated the Illinois Open Meetings Act, or at least violated the "spirit of the Act". (more)
Tony Uzzo, a 2008 graduate of Glenwood High
School, has been awarded the Charlie Cottle
Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is
awarded to a graduating senior
student-athlete who exhibits the qualities of
humility, leadership and integrity and has a
GPA of 3.0 or better. Uzzo's name has been
added to the plaque at GHS that honors
Charlie Cottle, Glenwood's first football coach.
Uzzo is pictured with Trevor Cottle, Charlie's
son. Uzzo, the son of Tom and Sue Uzzo,
plans to attend SIU-Edwardsville this fall.
Police Department gets three new squad cars

Hughes appointed to Fire District Board

Chatham Fire Chief Phil Schumer has confirmed that Jerry Hughes, a former two-time CFD Chief, has
been appointed to serve on the three-person Chatham Fire Protection District Board of Trustees. (more)
Butler resigns as Fire District Trustee

Don Butler has resigned as a member of the Chatham Fire Protection District Board of Trustees, effective

Chatham Firefighters Local 4490 hosted a
Car and Truck Show last Saturday on the
Village Square, with the proceeds benefitting
the Burn Camp. A number of awards and
prizes were handed out.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Chatham
American Legion Post 759 Homecoming was
held last Thursday evening. Members of the
Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce, local
community leaders and Legion officers were
on hand. This year's Homecoming was
blessed with great weather and big crowds.

lifetime - qualifying for the
Olympic Games. And she's

Ball-Chatham registration set August 4
Registration at all schools in the Ball-Chatham School District will be held Monday, Aug. 4, at each
respective school building. For students attending Chatham Elementary, Ball Elementary and Glenwood
Intermediate, registration will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 4 at each school.
For students attending Glenwood Middle School and Glenwood High School, registration will be held from
9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 4 at each school. The first day of student attendance for the 2008-09 school year is
set for Monday, Aug. 18. That day will include an early dismissal.
