Anika Webster had 16 points to help lead the Glenwood Middle
School 8th grade girls basketball team to a 32-27 win over
Springfield Franklin last Thursday in the title game of the IESA
Class 8-4A Jacksonville Turner Regional. (

CJWC Trivia Night Jan. 23 at
St. Joseph's
The Chatham Junior Woman's Club will be sponsoring a Trivia
Night Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Joseph's Church in Chatham.  
Doors open at 6 a.m., with trivia starting at 7.  Cost is $10 per
person, and there can be up to 10 people per table.  Food and
drinks will be available for purchase.  There will also be a
50/50 raffle and Silent Auction.  Call the church at 483-3772 for
reservations.

Water Commission,

Greene, Thurston help Titans open CS8

Junior Michael Greene opened the game by draining three straight 3-point field goals, and
sophomore Tyler Thurston closed the first quarter with a 3 of his own as the Glenwood boys
cruised to a 59-39 victory over Taylorville last Friday night in the Central State Eight Conference

Kindergarten
registration set
February 3-4
The Ball-Chatham School District will be
holding kindergarten registration for the 2010-
2011 school year, Wednesday, Feb. 3, and
Thursday, Feb. 4, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
at both Chatham and Ball Elementary
Schools.  Please register at the school that
your child will be attending.  (If you are unsure
about this information, please contact one of
the school offices at 483-2411, ext. 501, or
483-2414, ext. 313.) If you live in the Ball-
Chatham School District and have a child (or
children) who will be 5 years old on or before
September 1, 2010 please plan to register.  
Before entering in the fall, we will need a copy
of your child’s physical/immunization record, a
certified birth certificate and proof of residency
(your tax bill or contract for lease/purchase of
your home, driver’s license and utility bill with
current address).  If you have any of this
information available, please bring it to
registration. It is extremely important to our
planning for the next school year to have an
accurate count of kindergarten students, so
please help us by registering on the above
dates.
New liquor license to be created for
Walgreens

After lengthy discussion, the Chatham Village Board withdrew an ordinance that would have
granted a Class C liquor license to Walgreens. (

The Ball-Chatham School District and
members of local trade unions have reached
a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) for work
with the new elementary school project.  A
signing ceremony was held Monday
afternoon at the District Office, with several
union and district representatives on hand.  
The agreement not only guarantees a local
work force for the construction of the new
school, it eliminates any strike or work
stoppage issues.  Any conflict or dispute will
be worked out at the management level.  In
