STORM DAMAGE - Severe storms ripped
through Chatham Tuesday evening, downing
a power line along Gordon Drive, just south
of the Walnut intersection (top).  Also, a large
tree was uprooted near the West
Walnut/Market intersection in front of The
Laundry Stop.  Parts of town were without
power until 4:30 Wednesday morning, due to
the downed power line.  Affected areas
included Manor Hill, Breckenridge Manor and
Kings Point. Some minor structural damage
was also reported, according to Deputy
Police Chief Vern Foli.  Reports included
siding damage near Buckingham and
County Road, along with a trampoline in a
tree in that area.  There were no reports of
major flooding issues, he added.  Most of the
calls were about fallen tree limbs, Foli said.
Tornadoes reportedly touched down to the
west and south of town.  Tornado sirens
went off in Chatham at the height of the
storm, and police and Village crews
responded to affected areas immediately,
with Chief John Holm redirecting traffic on
Gordon.
