Adcock buys VFW Hall
New owner Darrell Adcock says it will be called "The Jefferson Center."
Adcock, an Auburn native, bought the former VFW Hall on the south side of the square from the VFW Post recently, with a
December 15 takeover date.
"My goal is to fill the square with cars for a great number of events we plan to hold," says Adcock, owner of Darrell's Exchange
on the south side of the square.
Adcock, who is an auctioneer, presently holds weekly Wednesday auctions at his Glenarm location."I expect eventually to move
that operation to Auburn," he says. "We have held these consignment auctions since 2003."
Also, Adcock plans a number of innovative pluses at the new site such as "Hot Spot" for users of Smart Phones and Laptops to
allow bidders to check prices  at online auction sites such as Ebay, Sears, Amazon. In addition, he adds, "we will broadcast the
auctions on our website."
Not only will the once a week consignment auctions be held on Wednesdays in Auburn but The Jefferson Center will also be
the site of specialized auctions such as estate sales, coin sales, etc. on Thursdays through Sundays.
Of course, the building, which has been the scene of wedding receptions, special occasion events, etc. will still be available for
those functions adds Adcock.
Before all this occurs, Adcock says, "I'm going to start on the refurbishing project. We have a number of improvements to make
such as the decor, lighting, rest room facilities and a lot more," concludes Adcock, who can be reached at (217) 899-4411.
