School reconfiguration plan approved on 7-0
vote
The Auburn School Board voted 7-0 Tuesday night to implement the school reconfiguration plan
beginning next school year which will affect students in every district building except the high school.

Register now for fall youth soccer
The Auburn Soccer Association is now accepting registration for the 2011 fall season. The league is
open to children ages 4-13 (by September 1, 2011) and is available to all children in the surrounding
area. All games and the soccer camp will be held at New Life Family Church in Auburn. The fee is
$25 per player for the season if paid by May 31. Registrations will be accepted after May 31, but the
fee will be $35. Soccer camp, sponsored by United Community Bank, will be held August 1-5 from 6
to 8 p.m. Participants must be at least six years old by September 1, 2011 to register for the camp.
The entry fee of $30 includes camp shirt, soccer ball and water bottle. Registration forms are
available at www.auburnsports.org.
Cub Scout Pack 356 garage sale
fundraiser May 21
Auburn Cub Scout Pack 356 will hold a garage sale Saturday, May 21 at the Auburn
United Methodist Church from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. The sale will include a wide variety of
clothes for all ages, toys and books, household items and more. Concessions will also
be on sale. Proceeds from the event will benefit a Scouting trip this summer.

PTO seeking vendors for Holiday
Festival
The Auburn-Divernon Parent Teacher Organization is seeking vendors for a Holiday
Festival. The Holiday Festival is planned for Saturday, December 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. at
the Auburn Elementary School. The festival will include such things as pictures with
Santa, refreshments, vendors, and a Children’s Holiday Shoppe. Crafters and sales
representatives in the Auburn and Divernon areas are needed to fill booth and table
spaces. To reserve your space, contact Linda Wood at (217) 836-9025. Crafters and
representatives outside of Auburn and Divernon may begin reserving spaces after
November 22. Booth space will be approximately 10x10 for a fee of $25. Table space
will be approximately 4x10 for a fee of $15. All displayers will need to supply their own
tables and may begin setting up at 12:30 p.m.
Wimmer Cemetery seeks financial
aid, meeting Dec. 17
An open meeting will be held Saturday, December 17 starting at 10:30 a.m. at the
public library to discuss fundraising efforts by the Wimmer Cemetery Association.
President Dan Dixon says the cemetery is desperately in need of a new riding
mower and will need help this upcoming year with various projects including a ham
and bean fundraiser to be held early in 2012. Everyone is invited to attend, says
Dixon, and "we welcome all levels of support."

Doug Graven, who has coached at Auburn for
24 years and 31 years overall, won his 500th
basketball game last Friday at Mt. Pulaski.
Graven was presented the game ball prior to
the game Tuesday with IC, which turned out to
be No. 501. With the coach are his family.

named Illinois State Scholars for the 2011-12

Six young men from the Auburn area who are
currently serving in the military, along with a
visiting airman, gathered this past week at the
home of Anne and Dave Lawler in Auburn for
a holiday celebration with their families. They

Library 'Souper Saturday' Sale March
10
The Auburn Public Library will hold its second annual "Souper Saturday" sale
Saturday, March 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Center. Tables can be
rented for $10 to sell your goods or your may donate your items to the library to sell.
Soup will be available for take out or eat in, along with drinks and baked goods. If you
would like to rent a table, donate items or have any questions, call the library at
438-6211. Profits from this sale will be used in part to pay for E-books.
The rear portion of the former R Theatre,
which is now home to Midwest Classic
Insurance and its owner Robbin Terry, was
demolished earlier this week. Terry, who has
moved his business to the ambulance garage
at 5th and Jackson and has secured
temporary living quarters, says it will take at
least several months to completely assess
the entire situation and make repairs before
he and his wife can return home.

A chicken dinner and silent auction to benefit the Auburn High School After-Prom
will be held Friday, February 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. The dinner will be held in the AHS
cafeteria in conjunction with Senior Night for the boys basketball team.
Dinners will be provided by Nelson’s Catering, therefore, tickets must be sold in
advance. The dinner entree will include half-chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy,
corn and roll for $8. Carryout orders and curbside take-out will be available.
Some of the silent auction items include St. Louis Cardinals tickets, a weekend
stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Arlington Heights, overnight stay at the Hilton
Garden Inn, weekend overnight stay at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel and
basket donations from Magro’s Processing, Family Video and the Auburn Citizen.

February 11 from 4-7 p.m. to benefit Debbie Norton. Debbie has liver cancer and was
awaiting a transplant when she learned that she also has a brain tumor. This
fundraiser will help cover the ongoing costs associated with her medical care and
expenses. Mostaccioli, salad, rolls and homemade desserts will be served. Gluten
free pasta and meatless sauce will be available upon request and take out is also
available. A free will donation will be collected.
