Pre-registration for kindergarten now
All parents who have a child entering kindergarten this fall are urged to pre-register
at this time. Please call the elementary school office at 438-6916 from 1-3 p.m. to
receive a registration form and kindergarten information packet. (If you have a child
currently enrolled in the pre-kindergarten program, the packet will be sent home with
your child. You do not need to pre-register.) No fees will be collected at this time.
This early registration will give the school a better idea of how many students to
expect this fall. A copy of the child's certified birth certificate and a current Illinois
physical will be required for kindergarten entry at the beginning of the school year.
Physicals are valid for one calendar year from the date of the physical to the first day
of the 2009-10 school year (which will probably be around August 20, 2009). If you
have not already done so, we urge you to make the physical appointment soon, as
doctor's offices book very quickly over the summer. Shot records must also be
provided to the school nurse to verify compliance with state requirements. A vision
exam by a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist is also required for
kindergartners by October 15, 2009. A dental exam will also be required sometime
during your child's kindergarten year (due by May 15, 2010.) If you have your child's
certified birth certificate, please mail in a copy for your child's school record.
Children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2009 must be five on or before
September 1, 2009. (Keep in mind that the certified birth certificate is the one from
the county clerk or registrar's office, not the copy from the hospital. Children currently
in the pre-kindergarten program should already have a certified birth certificate on file
and therefore do not need to obtain another copy. Information for pre-k students on
required physicals and immunizations will be sent home from the school nurse in
March. If you know of any family in Auburn who has a child eligible for kindergarten
this fall, please let them know this information. If you have any questions regarding
kindergarten pre-registration, please call the school office at 438-6916.
Auburn-Divernon Pre-K screening set
Mar. 3-4
A Pre-Kindergarten screening for the Auburn and Divernon Pre-K Programs will be
held Tuesday, March 3 and Wednesday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Holy Cross

prepare three and four year old children for a successful start in school. It is
important to know that this will be the only screening for both the Auburn and
Divernon programs before the start of the 2009-2010 school year. We will be
screening all children who are currently three years old or will turn three years of age
before September 1. Please have your child bring their favorite stuffed animal with
them. This will make it easier for your child to begin the screening process. All
parents who would like their child screened on those days need to schedule an
appointment. For more information and appointments, please call the elementary
school starting Tuesday, February 17 between 1 and 3 p.m. at 438-6916. If your child
is currently enrolled in Pre-K, they do not need to be screened.
