On April 3, five Auburn High School students participated in
the Bradley University High School Honor Choir in Peoria,
left to right: Alyssa Kieffer, Colby Mars, Olivia Cramblit,
Whitney Stuva and Logan Butts. The Honor Choir was
initiated in 1990 to support area high school choir
programs and to provide an opportunity each year for
outstanding young singers to prepare a concert together.
Each spring, choir directors are asked to nominate their
best singers, and a choir of 100 students is chosen from
the nominations. The group rehearsed together on the
evening of April 1 and all day on April 3 to prepare for the
concert that evening with the Bradley University choirs.

Committee plans veterans research center
Plans are in the works to enhance the Auburn Library with the addition of a Veterans Research Center pending Auburn City Council
approval.
The project was approved by the Auburn Library Board Tuesday evening but the original plans may have to be altered.
Vince Speranza, local World War II veteran, had a vision to construct a research and learning center that would pay tribute to local
veterans and provide a learning center for Auburn residents.
Speranza assembled an ad hoc committee whose members include: Bruce and Mary Centko, Connie Michelich, Edna Dolbeare,
Wayde Rathgeber, Jim West, Steve Dengler, Chris Warwick, Tony Rothering and Dave Hallerberg.
The committee’s plans for the Veterans Research Center include a display of military artifacts and memorabilia, a television with a
bank of headphones, war related books, documentaries and movies.
Both the Auburn VFW and the Auburn American Legion have pledged $1,000 toward the project. More funding will be needed and
the committee will begin a fundraising effort when all of the required paperwork has been filed.
More information on the project and fundraising will be forthcoming in the Citizen,
Anyone seeking further information should contact Vince Speranza at 438-3445.
