Local students return to class August 20
  Students will be back in school before you know it! Wednesday, August 20 will begin the 2008-09 school year with students
attending until 11:20 a.m.
  Registration dates and times have been set by all attendance centers in the district. All attendance centers in Auburn and
Divernon will register on August 6, 7, 8, 11 and 12.                 Registration times for Auburn Elementary, Divernon Elementary,
Auburn Middle School, and Auburn Junior High at Divernon will be as follows: August 6, (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.,) August 7, (2 to 8 p.m.),
August 8, (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and  August 11, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and August 12 (2 to 8 p.m.
All students entering grades four through six should register at the Auburn Middle School.         Students in grades seven and
eight will register at the Auburn Junior High School at Divernon located in Divernon. Students entering K-3 students who live in
Auburn should register at Auburn Elementary while K-3 students who live in Divernon should register at Divernon Elementary.
  All students entering grades nine through twelve will register at the Auburn High School from 8-3:00 on the following days:
  Freshman (August 6), sophomores (August 7), juniors (August 8) and seniors (August 11). On August 12, the school will be
open for all new students from 2-8 p.m.
  All students entering kindergarten, fifth grade and ninth grade, as well as all students new to Auburn schools must bring to
registration a completed physical form, or evidence (doctor appointment card) that a physical exam is scheduled with a doctor
prior to October 15.
  All students in kindergarten, second, and sixth grades must have a dental exam or an appointment card showing that a dental
exam is scheduled by May 2009. Due to a new state law passed on June of 2008, all kindergarten students must have an eye
exam completed by a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist by October 15.
  In compliance with state law, all students entering elementary school for the first time must present a copy of their certified birth
certificate (not the hospital record of birth.) All high school students new to the District must bring a copy of their academic
records from the previous attendance center. A social security number and copy of a birth certificate will also be necessary to
register. All families new to the District should bring with them some proof of district residency, such as a utility bill or other
identification.
  Fees for the 2008-09 school year will be set by the Board of Education at the July 21 board meeting and will be published in the
Citizen the next week.
