Special awards presented at middle school promotion
  Special awards and recognition of students who exhibited excellence were made at the Thursday, May 29, middle school
promotion.
  Fifty students in the class of 124 were recipients of both the Principal's Award and the President's Award for Educational
Excellence.
  To qualify for the Principal's Award a student must maintain honor roll status for both the seventh and eighth grade.
  To earn the President's Award the student must have maintained a cumulative 3.5 GPA for their seventh and eighth grades,
been in the 85th percentile or higher in math or language and had a teacher recommendation.
  The fifty are, Ian Anderson Amanda Aulich, Jesse Bell, Cassi Bertetto, Megan Bertoni, Rylie Bourne, Dalton Brown, Ryan Brown,
Colton Brummett, Katelynn Burton, Colby Butler, Jonathan Carter, Meghan Carter, Olivia Carter, Ethan Chrisler, Keri Cline, Anna
Dambacher, Austin Dambacher, Brett Davis, Justin Devlin, Bryan Diemer, Kayla DuBois, Lyol Edwards, Lindsey Gaines, Jacob
Gonterman, Elizabeth Grigsby, Brady Hunt, Amalia Hunter, Bradley Hupp, Megan Jones, Erika Kuenstler, Logan Kuhn, Lacey
Luke, Riley Marshall, Dakota McCall, Russell Michelich, Morgan Miller, Matthew Milner, Lindsie Newquist, Zachary Patton,
Danielle Petty, Tamara Sandness, Thomas V. Strubinger, Emily Tanner, Evan Tanner, Nathan Wagner, Hannah White, John
Wilson, Tyler Wolff and Rhianne Zimmerman.
  Nine students were cited with the President's Award for Educational Achievement which shows outstanding educational
growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development in their academic subjects. They are Jill Crowley, Shalika
Hammer, Amanda Price, Krystal Reese, Kelsey Roth-Elston, William Sturgeon, Elizabeth Wagner, Matthew Walker and Bailee
Woods.
  Twelve students were honored with the American Citizen Award. This award is sponsored by the National Principal's
Association and honors those students who make a positive contribution to the school and community. It recognizes those
students who participate in school and community service, show positive attitude toward classmates, school and community and
exercise the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
  Recognized were Ian Anderson, Ethan Chrisler, Keri Cline, Austin Dambacher, Kayla DuBois, Elizabeth Grigsby, Brady Hunt,
Amalia Hunter, Erika Kuenstler, Lacey Luke, Riley Marshall and Russell Michelich.
  Ellie Pierson was the recipient of the Terrence M. Flannigan Music Award presented to the eighth grade music student who in
the judgment of the  instructors best exemplifies musicianship, dedication and leadership in the program.
  Erika Kuenstler and Brad Hipp were the winners of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics who maintained the highest
math averages.
  Erika Kuenstler also was the recipient of the DAR  Award as the top social studies student.
  Recipients of the Shayne Hamm Award were Hannah Aeilts and John (Joel) Wilson. This award goes to one boy and one girl in
the eighth grade class and is based on the following: the ability to bring a smile to the faces of not only friends but strangers; the
ability to face life with hope and courage; to care and show compassion to others; to be able to put someone else first; to love
others with all your heart and by showing kindness and respect to all and always be a friend.
  Winners of the American Legion Awards,  based on qualities of courage, honor, leadership, scholarship, and service, were
Erika Kuenstler, and Ian Anderson with Kayla DuBois and Brady Hunt receiving honorable mention.
